When submitting a passport application, you'll need to provide two passport-sized photos if you're applying in person. For online applications, only one photo is required. Here are the guidelines for passport photos in Kenya:
The photo should measure 35mm x 45mm (3.5cm x 4.5cm). For applications on the citizen platform, provide a 2x2.5 inch photo and a digital image that is 207x207 pixels. The digital file should be less than 300kB.
- Use a plain white background without patterns or distractions.
- Keep a neutral expression with a closed mouth. Avoid smiling, frowning, or any exaggerated facial expressions.
- Your head should be straight, facing forward, and centered in the frame. Avoid tilting or turning your head.
- Keep both eyes open and clearly visible. If you wear glasses, remove them unless medically necessary, and ensure there’s no glare on the lenses.
- Wear everyday clothes. Uniforms or headgear that covers the hairline are generally not allowed, except for religious reasons.
- For infants and toddlers who can’t support their heads, place them on a plain white sheet to ensure their face is clearly visible.
